How long does it take you to draw these pictures?
The pictures on the website took between 24 and 70 hours to draw.

How did you learn how to draw? Did you have a teacher?
I had art classes in school, but rarely outside of school. I did major in Art in both the German Abitur and Int'l Baccalaureate.

Do you actually find it relaxing to draw?
Pretty much, yes ;-)

How do you decide which pictures to draw?
When just working for myself, I like drawing either pictures that I either simply like, or that seem resonably easy to do. I am usually wrong about the latter, though - Stephen Dorff was chosen that way, for instance, and he didn't turn out to be particularly easy =).

What is the glassy thing in the time lapse video?
I usually use a piece of glass that is elevated with some matboard or foamboard. It gives me the ability to film and see what I'm drawing, but prevents smudges.

Do you use totillions?
(A totillion is a paper stick used for shading). Actually, for pencil drawings, I don't - simply because I like the crispness that pencils create if they are never smudged. When drawing with charcoal, I do "smudge" quite a bit, however. Even there, I tend to shade with either my hands or kneadable erasers, though. I find it easier to vary the intensity that way.

Which pencils do you use?
I've recently started using Caran D'Aches pencils, and am very happy with them. Still looking for the perfect paper, though...
